not doubting you have been given this info, but i can't imagine why they would let go of a consistently good player like dallas johnson to make way for a over rated, overpaid has-been like mason and when they are struggling for room in their salary cap
can't see the storm doing something like that, only the goosters are stupid enough to do that....oh wait

If he goes to the Storm, he'll obviously be on a back-ended contract which will **** them up down the track.

He got a terrific offer in ESL to make some money that the Storm (or any other club) couldn't/wouldn't match.
They did release him, though.
